Coliseum

An eye visual and hearing stimulation experiment performed with mice in head fixed position.

The scientific goal of this project is to map the brain connections to find the relationship between light flashes / white noise and the precise location of the neuronal activity.

The speakers and LED array are a hemispheric 3D printed structural device that was designed to house LEDs and speakers into 3 stages divided vertically in an angle of 20º and each horizontal row has 13 columns (with 1 LED and 1 speaker as subset, 39 subsets in total) with 10º degrees apart. All panoramic setup is 180mm distance radius related to the mice head.

Key Features

  • Built using specialized equipment such as: 3D printer, laser Cutting machine, and soldering station.
  • In addition to in-house fabrication parts, other crucial components have been used: Electronic boards (designed and assembled in-house), LEDs, speakers, wiring, connectors, Copolyester filament, acrylic sheets, and a set of screws.
