Moving platform

This is an electromechanical device with 2 distinct parts sets: a fixed structural base and a motorized 360º rotating circular platform, with hollow shaft to allow the electric data cables with plug connector pass through the center, this turntable platform was designed / programed to handle the Laptop weight and other electronic devices, in rotational start / acceleration and deceleration / stop, providing a very smooth movement control.


The main scientific contribution of this motorized turntable device (to be placed in the upper zone relative to mice arena) is to allow all the associated electronics devices to perform the brainwave / activity reading, stays connected to the live animal brain probe, via data collection cable, allowing following the mice freely rotational movements during the tasks experiments, avoiding that the cable becomes twisted or entangled, contributing in this way to a better animal comfort, and also to easy the scientist flow during all behavioral experiment time, (otherwise the scientist would have to stop the experiment to untwist the cables by hand).

Key Features

  • Built using specialized equipment such as: CNC machine, laser Cut, 3D printer and soldering station.
  • In addition to in-house fabrication parts, other crucial components have been used: Electronic board (designed and assembled in-house), DC Gearhead-Motor with encoder, toothed belt, bearings and a set of screws.

Applications

  • Mice free behavioral experiments, using cerebral probe connected via specialized undivided data cable.
